Q:  Are these art chairs‚ art‚ or a piece of furniture?Hunter

A:  Both.  Many collectors put them on a  platform, under a light.  Others sit on them at the breakfast table.

Q:  What do you mean the chairs are recycled?
A:  Mettler recycles old wooden chairs, takes them apart, replaces missing parts, and makes them stronger than new and suitable for enhancing.  Several coats of black paint, application and hardening of the image, and finally, signing the piece completes the job.  Labor intensive, but worth every hour.  They are waterproof and stainproof.

A:  Sure!   Chuck cannot take on every project, but if you have a good idea give Chuck a call and we’ll work it out.

Q:  How do you price these Art Chairs?

A: They are a total bargain if you consider that each chair has to be found, repaired, and fixed BEFORE he even starts turning it into a piece of art.  Then he works with the top quality computer graphic people, which isn’t cheap, and then, after the art is created, it has to be sealed, hardened and basically turned into something more than just furniture art.  It’s FUNCTIONAL furniture art.

Q:  How strong are these chairs?

A:  Very.  Put your kids on it.  Accidentally knock them with a fork or a pen or a …. ?   No sweat! Unless you really try, it’s hard to damage these chairs.

Q:  Why Chairs as art?

A:  Chuck Mettler always been interested in architectural designed Art Chairs an furniture from a early age. Early studies by the Bauhas School of Design (1919 to 1933) by designers like Walter Gropius, LeCorbusier, and Marcel Breuer. Influenced him greatly. Even Frank Lloyd Wright got under his skin.

Q: Do you do other Furniture Art?

A:  Yes I had an early interest in woodworking that lead to experimenting with marble top tables, dining room tables, and pedestals for sculptures, all of which were sold to friends and family.

Q:  Why do you use recycled chairs for you Furniture Art?Furnit

A:  Giving old used chairs a new life is not only good for the planet, it feels good. I like giving new life to something someone else discarded. And there is art in that process alone.

Q:  How fragile is your Furniture Art?

A: Most of the salvaged chairs I find need structural repair, I re-glue legs an support arms, all of my chairs are as strong an durable as the day they were first originally built.

Q: Do you ship your furniture?

A:  Yes! All orders go out UPS ground, and my customers pay for shipping. As you might guess, we have to get creative in the way we build our shipping boxes. I have one customer who says that the way I ship my art should be put in a gallery as well as what’s inside the box.

Q: Do you customized Furniture Art?

A:  This could be possible depends on just what the customer is looking for, this would be looked at on a project by project basis, all inquires would be considered after reviewing customer specifications.  But heck yeah!  If it looks fun I’m in!

Q:  Why are your chairs numbered?

A:  Each one is one of a kind, and it’s fun to watch where the chairs end up. Also, my customers love being in on such a limited project. If you want mass-produced piece of furniture, you can by a well designed one at Target. But if you want true, one-of-a-kind art chair (or chairs), the numbering process assures you of its uniqueness.
